The deadline to submit your abstract to Digestive Disease Week® (DDW) 2023 will be here before you know it. To help you craft an excellent abstract before the Dec. 1 deadline, we’ve highlighted a few frequently asked questions below. Find the full slate FAQs on the DDW website, and submit a question to our help desk if you have one that isn’t answered. We’ve also put together a tutorial video to help you submit your abstract.
Q: What abstracts are eligible to submit?
A: Abstracts containing basic, clinical or translational research findings in the fields of gastroenterology, hepatology, endoscopy or gastrointestinal surgery may be submitted. Abstracts that have been published as an article, were presented at previous DDW meetings, or previously submitted to or presented at the AASLD Liver Meeting are not eligible for submission.
Q: Is there an online presentation option if I can’t attend in person?
A: Presenters will be required to attend and present their abstract in person in Chicago, May 6–9, 2023. Authors unable to attend in person should select the “ePoster only” presentation option during step three of submitting their abstract. Accepted ePoster authors will still be required to register for DDW and upload an ePoster file to the ePosters site.
Q: I already submitted my abstract. Can I make edits to it?
A: Authors may make edits to submitted abstracts any time prior to the Dec. 1 submission deadline. To make edits, submitting authors should log in at the submission site, click the “submission” tab and use the dropdown menu next to the abstract title to select “return to draft.” The abstract will then be available for editing. Once all changes have been made, authors must save and resubmit the abstract by the submission deadline. Abstracts in draft status at the submission deadline will not be reviewed.
Q: Does DDW offer any grants or awards?
A: Yes, DDW will award up to 20 DDW Basic Science Travel Awards to early career authors of basic science abstracts. Applications will open Thursday, Dec. 15. Several of DDW’s sponsoring societies also offer abstract-related grants. A full list is available on the DDW website.
Q: What’s new this year?
A: There are several new abstract descriptors for 2023. The full list of abstract categories is available on the DDW website.
