Do you hold any volunteer positions with AGA?
I’m fortunate to be one of the mentees in the AGA Future Leaders’ Program. This intensive mentoring program from the AGA demonstrates how invested the organization is in developing a talent pool of future leaders, and it’s unlike any other program. This provides me a platform to engage with senior AGA leadership, learn from outstanding mentors and trained professionals who are deeply interested in the development and leadership training of junior faculty, and network with eager young colleagues in diverse fields. I also serve on the AGA Clinical Guidelines Committee and have been the lead methodologist for several IBD-related guidelines.

How many times have you attended DDW^®?
Every year since medical school, beginning in 2006. I’m hooked.

How is the meeting different than other meetings you’ve attended? This is a well-rounded meeting, combining plenary research sessions where the latest, cutting-edge science and clinical practice developments are presented, and clinical symposia and focused clinical updates, where our frontline clinicians can hear experts’ approach to managing specific diseases. Plus, the global appeal of this conference brings together scientists and clinicians from all over the world.

What session are you most looking forward to at the meeting? As always, I’m looking forward to the Immunology, Microbiology and IBD Distinguished Abstract Plenary session [on Monday], given my clinical and research interests. And this year, I’m particularly excited since I’ll be presenting.

If you could have lunch with one presenter at the meeting, who would it be and why?
Dr. Doug Corley. I’m fascinated by his research, which uses informatics to inform gastrointestinal cancer epidemiology and cancer surveillance.

Do you plan to do anything touristy while you’re in Chicago? Got to visit the bean.
Social network of choice? I’m losing track of these things now.
