We know the process of submitting an abstract to Digestive Disease Week® (DDW) 2021 can be a little overwhelming, especially if you’re a first-time submitter. We’re here to help. Below, we’ve answered some of your frequently asked questions to help you meet the Dec. 3, 2020, deadline.
Once you’re ready, head over to the submission site and submit your abstract.
Q: What is the deadline to submit an abstract?
A: Abstracts must be submitted by Thursday, Dec. 3, 2020, at 21:00 Eastern time (UTC -5).
Q: Can I submit an abstract that was accepted for previous DDW meetings?
A: Abstracts accepted for presentation at DDW 2020 by SSAT may be resubmitted to SSAT for consideration for the 2021 meeting. Authors must complete a new submission by the Dec. 3 deadline to be considered; additionally, 2020 encore submissions will not be published in the April 2021 Gastroenterology supplement if accepted for DDW 2021. Abstracts that have been accepted for presentation at a previous DDW are not eligible for submission for AASLD, AGA or ASGE.
Abstracts may be re-submitted if they were submitted to DDW in previous years but not accepted for presentation.
Q: How many tables or images may I include?
You may include up two images per abstract. Images will only be accepted in gif, png, tiff, tif, jpg or jpeg formats. For assistance with saving a Word, Excel or PowerPoint table as an image file, watch the tutorial video below or view these instructions on taking a screenshot using Windows or using a Mac.
Q: I want to check if my co-author(s) submitted their financial disclosure. How can I check that on the submission site?
A: To view the status of co-author disclosure, log in to your account and click the “Submission” tab. Next to the title of your abstract, click the “Action” drop-down and select “View Abstract.” The full–text abstract will pop up (please enable pop-ups). Scroll to the very bottom of the abstract to view co-author disclosure status.
This tutorial video walks you through how to complete a co-author disclosure.
Q: My co-author(s) have not received the email to complete disclosure. What should I do?
A: First, ask the co-authors to check their junk mail folder. If they suspect the email is being blocked, they should email the DDW Program Team and ask to have the email address on their account updated to another email address.
Visit the DDW help desk for additional FAQs about completing disclosure.
Q: Can I make edits to an abstract that has been submitted?
A: Authors can make edits to a submitted abstract any time up until the Dec. 3 submission deadline by logging into the submission site. To edit an abstract, return it to draft status, save your changes and then resubmit by the Dec. 3 deadline.
Q: Can I withdraw my abstract?
A: DDW will withdraw an abstract upon written request from the submitting author. Requests for withdrawal must be made by Feb. 25, 2021 by completing this form.
Q: Will there be a Late-Breaking Abstract submission period?
