ASGE gives fellows a unique opportunity to ask questions, share experiences and compare notes with their peers, colleagues and society leaders during Saturday’s Fellows Networking Session.
What began as an informal gathering five years ago has become a “must attend” event for endoscopists-in-training, according to Frank G. Gress, MD, professor of medicine and clinical chief of the division of digestive and liver diseases at Columbia University Medical Center, New York.
“It’s evolved now into a well-organized and informative event for fellows in all years of their training,” said Dr. Gress, one of the organizers of this year’s networking session. “It’s a great opportunity for fellows to ask a lot of questions and get them answered by very experienced members of the society.”
During the session, fellows will rotate between tables, each one assigned a specific topic related to training and early career practice issues. Expert society members will lead each table, answering questions and engaging with fellows. At a specified time, fellows will rotate to a new table and topic. Table topics include passing the GI boards, working in an academic practice setting, working in a private practice environment and work-life balance.
“For many fellows, this might be their first time attending DDW®,” Dr. Gress said. “The networking session is a great way for them to kick off the meeting and learn more about the society and about DDW, compare notes with their peers in other fellowship programs and prepare for their future.”
Dr. Gress also encourages fellows to attend a special ASGE Clinical Symposium Sunday afternoon titled Fellows Update: Are You a Second or Third Year Fellow? The symposium will feature world-renowned experts covering a variety of clinical topics and procedures, including chromoendoscopy and advanced imaging, esophageal therapies, bleeding and perforations, colonoscopy and polypectomy. The symposium will conclude with question-and-answer session.
Please refer to the DDW Mobile App or the Program sections in the Saturday and Sunday issues of DDW Daily News for additional details on these and other DDW events.
