Abstract submission for Digestive Disease Week® (DDW) 2022 is underway, and the submission deadline will be here sooner than you think. To help you meet the Dec. 2 deadline and ease the submission process, we’ve answered some of the most frequently asked questions.
If you have a question that isn’t answered here, visit the DDW website for additional FAQs or submit a ticket to our help desk. Be sure to also review the submission guidelines. And once you’re ready, head over to the submission site and submit your abstract.
If you have any other questions about abstract submission, leave a comment and DDW Administration staff will answer in a timely fashion.
Q: Is there an option to present virtually for DDW 2022?
A: Yes, DDW will offer in person and virtual presentation options for the 2022 meeting. Abstracts submitted for oral or poster presentation will be considered for presentation on-site in San Diego, CA. If selected, the presenting author is required to register for and attend DDW 2022 in person. Please note that COVID-19 vaccination will be required of all presenters and attendees; more information can be found on our health and safety web page.
Authors unable to attend DDW in person in San Diego should select the “ePoster only” presentation type when submitting their abstract. Abstracts submitted for ePoster presentation will be considered for electronic presentation at the DDW ePosters site during DDW 2022. Once the Dec. 2 submission deadline passes, submitters will not be able to change their presentation type.
Q: Can I change my presentation type or make edits to my abstract after I’ve submitted?
A: Authors may make edits to submitted abstracts any time prior to the Dec. 2 submission deadline by logging in at the submission site, clicking the “submission” tab and using the dropdown menu next to the abstract title to select “return to draft.” Please note authors must then resubmit the abstract by the Dec. 2 submission deadline. Authors can also change their presentation type any time up until the submission deadline. After Dec. 2, no changes or edits to abstracts or author strings will be accepted.
Q: Can I include tables or images in my abstract?
A: You may include up to two images per abstract. Tables and images do not count toward the 2,900 character limit. Images will only be accepted in gif, png, tiff, tif, jpg, or jpeg formats. PDFs will not be accepted. For assistance with saving a Word, Excel or Powerpoint table as an image file, view these instructions on taking a screenshot using Windows or using a Mac.
Q: How do I check if my co-author(s) submitted their financial disclosure?
A: To view the status of co-author disclosure, log in to your account and click the “submission” tab. Next to the title of your abstract, click the “action” drop-down and select “view abstract.” The full-text abstract will pop up (please enable pop-ups). Scroll to the very bottom of the abstract to view co-author disclosure status. This tutorial video walks you through how to complete a co-author disclosure.
All co-authors must submit their financial disclosures by Friday, Dec. 10 at 15:00 Eastern time (UTC -5).
Q: Does DDW offer any grants or awards?
A: Yes, DDW will award up to 20 Basic Science Travel Awards to early career researchers for the 2022 meeting. Selected authors of basic science abstracts will receive a $1,000 grant and recognition at DDW 2022. DDW’s sponsoring societies also have various grants available; a list of DDW-related grants and awards is posted to the DDW website.
Q: When will I be notified if my abstract has been accepted for inclusion in DDW 2022?
A: Notifications will be sent to presenting authors on Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2022. Please keep your email information updated within the submission site. Authors will also be able to view the status of their abstracts at the DDW abstract look-up site, available starting Feb. 15, 2022.
