Digestive Disease Week® 2018 was one for the books. More than 14,000 GI professionals gathered in Washington, D.C., for the world’s premier GI meeting. The four-day conference featured 4,110 posters, 981 presentations by invited speakers and 1,100 oral abstracts.
DDW® 2018 offers attendees the chance to earn up to 32.75 continuing medical education (CME) credits by participating in designated sessions. Track CME hours through the DDW Mobile App, claim them at a CME kiosk or go to www.ddw.org/cme.
DDW® attendees unable to attend every session on their wish list can access nearly 500 hours of non-ticketed course presentations through DDW’s online-only digital library, DDW On Demand. Register at watch.ondemand.org/ddwlogin to get started.
Whether you have an evening free after DDW® sessions or you’re staying a couple extra days after the meeting, Washington, D.C., offers a variety of activities and capital sights to see this spring.
You probably learned in grade school that Washington, D.C., is home to the White House and runs along the Potomac River, but did you know the nation’s capital was built on a swamp?
Digestive Disease Week® (DDW) is the most comprehensive GI meeting in the world. It features top-tier research and high-quality sessions from four societies, making it the best place for gastroenterologists to find cutting-edge science and clinical updates, according to DDW Council Chair Grace H. Elta, MD, AGAF, FASGE.
In addition to being the nation’s political capital, Washington, D.C., is on its way to becoming the nation’s culinary capital. A world-renowned restaurant publication — the Michelin Red Guide — dished out two stars for two D.C. restaurants while honoring 11 restaurants with one-star accolades in 2018.
After lively discussions over the past couple of years, the DDW Council decided to implement a “your data, your choice” photo policy to accommodate diverse audiences and an influx of technology, while respecting presenters’ research. The new policy allows photography and social media postings, while also giving presenters an opportunity to opt out. Previously, photography was strictly prohibited.
