As the premier GI meeting in the world, Digestive Disease Week® (DDW) is the ideal place to present your research. If you need more reasons to submit, I’ve put together the five top reasons to submit an abstract to DDW 2022. Don’t forget abstracts are due Dec. 2 at 21:00 Eastern time (UTC –5).
Network
As the largest meeting for digestive disease professionals, DDW is an ideal forum in which to network with like-minded individuals from around the globe. Submitting an abstract could lead to an opportunity to meet future collaborators and colleagues.
Feedback
During the poster (or oral session), you will likely be able to present your work to experts in the field. Whether it is compliments or critique, you can receive valuable feedback for your final publication, as well as future projects.
Presentation
Developing presentation skills and perfecting how to convey scientific information are important skills for anyone in gastroenterology, especially those interested in research and academia. The process of creating an informative and visually appealing poster (or PowerPoint) builds confidence in presenting research.
Share an Experience
Each of us has a distinct set of clinical experiences. The patient populations we have worked with and the pathologies we have seen vary widely. Submitting an abstract lets us share our experiences as well as learn from those of others.
Learn
Gastroenterology and hepatology are vast and ever-changing fields. Use the opportunity as a presenter to learn about updates in your subspecialty, as well as any other topic of interest. Consider attending a lecture on a new topic or strolling through poster sessions to meet with trainees!
Ultimately, submitting an abstract is a fantastic way to participate in all that DDW has to offer!
