Advancing Diversity at DDW® 2024: Strategies for Navigating Research, Clinical Practice and Advocacy in a Diverse Landscape

We’re committed to advancing diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) in the digestive health field. This year’s program offers a variety of sessions on this topic, including our annual Digestive Disease Week® (DDW) Diversity Symposium. The 2024 symposium, Advancing Diversity: Strategies for Navigating Research, Clinical Practice and Advocacy in a Diverse Landscape, takes place Sunday, May 19, 4–5:30 p.m. EDT. Join us to hear the following topics:

  • Improving Clinician Understanding of LGBTQIA+ Digestive Health Needs
  • The Pitfalls of Implicit Bias in LGBTQIA+ Research
  • Fixing the Leaky Pipeline in a Post-Race Conscious Admissions Era
  • Advocacy Strategies Needed: Federal and State

Attendees will leave with strategies for improving communication with LGBTQIA+ patients and for enhancing diversity and inclusivity in admissions, as well as how to become more involved in legislation that affects diversity, equity and inclusion.

The session will conclude with a panel discussion and an opportunity for Q&A.

Immediately following the session, continue the discussion from the session and talk about other relevant issues at the DDW Diversity Reception. This reception is supported by Takeda Pharmaceuticals U.S.A. and light food and drinks will be available.

Both the session and the reception are included with DDW registration.
