How many times have you attended DDW®?
This is my third time at DDW. I also attended in 2016 and 2012.
How is the meeting different than other meetings you’ve attended?
DDW is incredibly exciting because it brings together a community of international members from four different societies. This creates a uniquely stimulating environment for education and discovery. As a young investigator at DDW, I have the opportunity to present and discuss my research with a broad audience. But at the same time, I have always felt encouraged to explore outside of my chosen field of study.
What session are you most looking forward to at the meeting?
AASLD’s Plenary Sessions on Sunday and Monday. These focused sessions facilitate the exploration of emerging trends in the field of liver disease and the identification of potential topics for future research. They are also great opportunities to meet and network with fellow clinicians and researchers.
If you could have lunch with one presenter at the meeting, who would it be and why?
Dr. Anna Lok, the current president of AASLD and a pioneer in the field of viral hepatitis. She has been an inspiration to me since I first started exploring hepatology as a potential career in medical school. She has been a role model for me as a woman in medicine, leader, mentor, teacher, speaker and investigator.
Do you plan to do anything touristy while you’re in Chicago?
A run on the Lakefront Trail with friends, followed by Chicago-style deep dish pizza!
Social network of choice: Instagram
Favorite app: OpenTable. I love to travel and discover regional cuisine.
If another attendee recognizes me at the meeting because of this article, I hope he or she … stops me to say hello! What I love most about this meeting is the opportunity to meet new people — my fellow colleagues — and future friends.
Please refer to the DDW Mobile App or the Program section in the Sunday and Monday issues of DDW Daily News for the time and location of this and other DDW events.
