Chicago, Here We Come!

Digestive Disease Week® (DDW) 2023 is almost here, and we’re so excited to return to Chicago! If you’re attending the meeting in person, be sure to experience what the Windy City has to offer while you’re here. Below, we’ve put together a couple of suggested activities to check out after you’re done with sessions for the day and ready to relax. Plus, you can visit the website we created with Choose Chicago to get additional recommendations for dining, nightlife and more.

Catch a Show

Unwind after a busy day of learning with some live music at one of Chicago’s jazz clubs, or get ready to laugh at Chicago’s legendary The Second City, where some of the biggest names in comedy got their start. If you’re a Broadway fan, grab tickets to see “Into The Woods” at the James M. Nederlander Theatre.

Get Some Fresh Air

You’ll definitely get plenty of steps inside the convention center, but if you want to go on a run or take a walk, the 18-mile-long Lakefront Trail is the place to do it. You can also stroll through Millennium Park, home to the iconic Cloud Gate sculpture (aka The Bean) or walk along one of Chicago’s many beaches.

Cheer on the Cubs

For the sports fanatics, visit Wrigley Field and watch the Chicago Cubs play the St. Louis Cardinals on Monday, May 8 at 6:40 p.m. Arrive early and stop by Gallagher Way to lounge in the sun and grab a local brew.

Grab Some Grub

Don’t forget to try Chicago’s famous deep-dish pizza (try The Original Gino’s East of Chicago) or Chicago-style hot dogs (Portillo’s is a popular spot). Chicago is also home to top restaurants helmed by celebrity chefs. Check out more dining recommendations here.
