DDW Career Fair will be held Monday at the Career and Recruitment Center

Job seekers looking to advance or start their careers can get a head start at the DDW Career Fair, which will be held from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Monday at the Career and Recruitment Center in South Hall A.

Approximately 40 employers, ranging from small GI practices to larger hospital systems and universities, will be at the fair to answer questions and discuss open positions.

“It’s a really good opportunity for job seekers and employers to connect on site and have mini-interviews,” said Kristen King, partner relations and events manager for Health eCareers, the DDW® partner that coordinates the annual DDW Career Fair. “If attendees are right out of school and aren’t ready to enter a career yet, the Career Fair gives them a sense of what employers are looking for and what practices are doing now. It also gives job seekers looking to change jobs the chance to see what else is out there.”

Career Fair attendees can meet one-on-one with employers from across the country. Each attendee will receive a directory of all participating companies and where they’re hiring.

The Career Fair is also a rare opportunity for employers to meet with numerous qualified digestive health professionals searching for new opportunities.

“It’s a one-stop shop for employers and DDW attendees,” King said. “It’s a unique opportunity where you have everyone in one place at the same time.”

King said job seekers should consider taking a CV to the fair and preparing questions for employers. Questions might include job location, work-life balance, required certifications and on-call hours.

“I would really come in with an open mind,” she said. “Ask those difficult questions such as, ‘What does their practice look like?’ and ‘How much can you get paid?’ It’s an opportunity for attendees to brag about themselves a little bit.”

The Career and Recruitment Center is open throughout the meeting. Job seekers can search for GI opportunities across the country and internationally in all practice settings. Employers can post jobs and recruit physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and administrators to fill open position in medical facilities of all sizes. Job seekers can post and search resumes for free, and employers can do so for a fee. Visit www.healthecarers.com/ddw to get started.

The Career and Recruitment Center offers free CV reviews on Sunday and Monday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Members can sign up on a first-come, first-served basis.

“We have a CV consultation expert who will sit down with members and go through the CV with them,” King said. “She will let you know if it’s too long or too short, and help make some suggestions to make it better.”
