International Women’s Day: Championing Women in GI at DDW® 2024

Digestive Disease Week® (DDW) is proud to support career advancement of and empower women in GI and hepatology. and International Women’s Day is a great occasion to highlight how. Together with Scrubs and Heels, we compiled a sampling of sessions, posters and networking events taking place at this year’s event that cover this important topic. Be sure to register for DDW by March 13 to secure the early bird discounted rate.

American Gastroenterological Association Gender Equity Project

Saturday, May 18, 4–5 p.m.

Speakers from AGA will explain their framework for achieving gender equity in gastroenterology, falling into six domains:

  • bias and gender disparities
  • leadership and career advancement
  • wellness and balance
  • professional recruitment and retention
  • mentorship and sponsorship
  • recognition

The panel will conclude with a panel of diverse speakers discussing the desired future state of women in the field and what tactics would help get us there.

Gastroenterology Women’s Coalition (GWC) Women’s Leadership Program: Building Your Network and Your Net Worth

Sunday, May 19, 10–11:30 a.m.

Building a network within gastroenterology is important for anyone in the field. This symposium will encourage you to understand your market value and how you can leverage it for growth in your career. You’ll also leave with techniques for investing in your future, including for retirement.

 

AGA Women in GI Luncheon

Monday, May 20, Noon–2 p.m.

The annual AGA Women in GI Luncheon is an opportunity for AGA women members to network with their peers, get further engaged with AGA, and participate in opportunities to recognize the accomplishments of women in GI. RSVP information will be announced soon.
